Fire Command

A third-party joystick from GIM Electronics, who made the Fire Command range in the early 1980s - versions are recorded for the Atari 2600 and the Atari 5200, with a Fire Command II following in 1983.

On a ColecoVision

• Sticks of this generation use the Atari nine-pin standard, which the ColecoVision's ports accept - so one stick served several machines.
• What it cannot supply is the twelve-key keypad the console's games take their options from, so it is used alongside a hand controller or with one of the keypad adapters catalogued here.

WHETHER THIS PARTICULAR STICK WAS SOLD FOR THE COLECOVISION or is an Atari model that works on it is worth establishing from the packaging - the two are easily conflated with Atari-standard hardware.
