Universal Joystick Y Adapter

The Joystick “Y” Adapter was a third-party video game controller accessory manufactured by Gemini Industries, Inc. in 1983.

The adapter plugs into a single game controller port and divides it into two controller connections, permitting two compatible controllers to share the same control outlet.

Of particular interest to ColecoVision collectors, the original packaging specifically identifies the ColecoVision™ and other similar keypad controllers as compatible with the adapter. A diagram on the back shows a conventional joystick connected to one branch while a ColecoVision-style keypad controller can be connected to the other.

This arrangement could allow a player to use a preferred joystick for directional and fire controls while retaining access to the ColecoVision controller's keypad through the second connection.

The adapter was sold as part of Gemini's Video Games accessory line and carries catalog number VG154.
