Briefcase ColecoVision Portable

A ColecoVision built into a briefcase - console, screen and controls in a case that closes and can be carried.

The problems

• Power. The console needs +5V, -5V and +12V, which is why its supply is a special part and why a portable build cannot simply use a battery pack.
• A screen, and a way to feed it - which in practice means an A/V modification, since RF into a small monitor is not worth carrying.
• The keypad. ColecoVision games take their options from it, so a portable needs one built into the panel.

Briefcase conversions are a recognised form in retro computing, usually one-offs made by an enthusiast. LITTLE IS RECORDED about this one, and the maker is unknown - so the object and its photographs are the entire record, which is a good argument for photographing it thoroughly.
