CV with Internal Power Supply

A ColecoVision rebuilt with its power supply inside the case, so it takes an ordinary mains lead instead of the original external brick.

Why anyone does this

• A failed power supply is the commonest reason a ColecoVision does not switch on, and the original is not a standard part - it carries +5V, -5V and +12V on one four-pin lead.
• Building a modern supply into the console removes the weakest link and the hardest part to replace in one go.
• There is room to do it, and the console gains a mains socket rather than a proprietary one.

The trade is reversibility: this is a permanent change to the machine, which is a decision worth making deliberately on a collectable console. The internal power modification has been discussed at length on the AtariAge ColecoVision forum, where Ikrananka is a regular.
