What overlays do

• The ADAM's keyboard has six programmable smart keys and ten word-processing command keys, and what they do depends on the software running. An overlay labels them for a given program.
• Without the right one, a user is guessing at half the keyboard.

Why the box matters

• Overlays are card, and card gets bent, used and thrown away. Loose ones survive rarely; a boxed set with its accessories is scarcer still.
• For a collection this is the kind of thing worth photographing in full, since the contents list is itself the record - nothing published elsewhere is likely to have it.

CBS Electronics distributed the ADAM outside North America, so this is the European issue of a Coleco item.
