The general European issue of the ColecoVision's Atari 2600 adapter, from CBS Electronics.

What the module does

  • Plugs into the console's front expansion port and lets it run Atari 2600 cartridges - it is essentially a 2600 in a box.
  • Atari sued Coleco over it in 1982 and the two settled out of court, Coleco taking a licence to Atari's patents.

Why two issues

  • CBS packaged for individual markets where the language or the retail arrangements required it - the UK, France, Germany and Australia each have their own in this catalogue - and used a general European package elsewhere.
