Notes

A digital data pack made now rather than in the 1980s - a modern replacement for the ADAM's own tape medium, in the centre-directory format the machine's software expects.

Why new packs

  • Original packs are forty years old, and the medium was never robust: the tape is thicker than audio tape because the drive runs it at 20 inches per second and rewinds it at 80.
  • 256K a pack, over two tracks of 128 one-kilobyte blocks.
  • Coleco used two directory layouts, centre and right; this is the centre one, which is what most ADAM software uses.

WHAT THIS PACK IS BUILT FROM - a re-shelled original, or new tape in a new shell - is not recorded here and is the detail a collector would want.
