An external power supply for the Coleco ADAM, built around a Mean Well RT-50A - the triple-output unit most commonly used for this job, to the point that 3D-printable cases for an ADAM supply are published specifically around it.

Why it is needed

  • The ADAM's power supply lives inside its daisy wheel printer, so a machine without a working printer will not start.
  • An external supply bypasses the printer, which makes a printerless ADAM usable and spares a surviving printer the load.

What it delivers

  • +12V on two pins, +5V, -5V and ground.
  • The negative rail is why an ordinary single-voltage adapter cannot be substituted.
