Notes

A replacement for the ADAM's tape drive that reads .DDP files from an SD card. It presents itself over ADAMnet as a digital data drive, so the machine cannot tell the difference and no software driver is needed - EOS addresses it exactly as it addresses the original.

Why it matters

  • Failing data drives were one of the two faults that dogged the ADAM from launch; forty years on, a working one is not to be relied upon.
  • A whole library of data pack images fits on one card, and the tapes themselves can stay unplayed.

Eric Pearson designed it and published the whole thing - schematics, board and code - on GitHub. John Lundy has produced and sold it to the ADAM community from that shared design, which is how most people have one.
