Notes

An adapter that turns an ADAM keyboard into a USB keyboard for a modern computer. The PC sees an ordinary HID keyboard - no driver, nothing to install.

Why this keyboard

  • It is one of the genuinely good parts of the machine: 75 full-travel keys in a stepped QWERTY layout, built for 80-column work.
  • It is a peripheral in its own right rather than a matrix on a cable, carrying a Motorola 6801 that caches keystrokes and speaks ADAMnet - which is exactly why an adapter can talk to it at all.

The odd keys

  • WILD CARD, UNDO and the rest of the ADAM's own keys are mapped onto common PC keys, so nothing on the keyboard is dead.
