USB Mouse/Joystick Adapter (ADAM beige)

An adapter letting a modern USB mouse or joystick drive a controller port, cased in beige to match the ADAM.

How it works

• The machine sees an ordinary controller. The translation from USB happens inside the adapter, which is what lets a device thirty years newer than the port be plugged into it.

Why a mouse

• The ADAM's software includes work a pointer suits, and Coleco's own trackball is a games peripheral first, heavy and scarce.
• A modern optical mouse is precise, cheap and never needs cleaning.

These turn up in the community's Super ADAM builds paired with an Amiga A500 USB mouse, which suits the machine for colour as well as period. The ColecoVision-black version is catalogued alongside this one.
