Notes

An adapter letting an ordinary USB keyboard be used on the ADAM, in place of the machine's own.

Which way round

  • INTVDave's adapter, catalogued here, does the opposite - it puts an ADAM keyboard on a modern PC.
  • This one puts a modern keyboard on the ADAM, which means speaking ADAMnet convincingly enough that the machine believes it is talking to its own keyboard.

Why anyone wants it

  • ADAM keyboards fail, and a machine without one cannot be used at all.
  • The original is a peripheral with its own Motorola 6801 and its own protocol, so a replacement cannot simply be wired in - it has to emulate.

It is the same trick as the drive emulators throughout this catalogue, applied to input rather than storage.
