• SmartBASIC normally loads from a data pack, which takes minutes on a good drive and may not happen at all on a tired one.
• From a PROM it is present the moment the machine starts.

Who Walters Software are

• One of the ADAM's most persistent software houses, still supplying the machine long after Coleco left it - their titles appear throughout the software side of this archive.
• SmartBASIC v1.1 is their improved version of Coleco's original interpreter.

The MIB238 - Eric Pearson's redesign of the Micro Innovations MIB3 - provides the socket. A diagnostic PROM and a printer-patched SmartBASIC 1.0 for the same card are catalogued alongside this one.
