Parallel Cable

The lead that takes a parallel port from an ADAM expansion card out to a printer.

Why separately

• Cards such as the MIB238 present their parallel port on an internal header rather than on a connector through the case. The cable is what bridges that gap, usually to a comm panel on the back of the machine.
• The connector at each end has to suit both the card and the panel, which is why these are supplied as a matched part rather than bought generically.

What it buys

• Any standard printer of the parallel era, in place of Coleco's daisy wheel - faster, quieter, and not carrying the system's power supply.
