Notes

A prototype card combining a boot ROM socket with the memory addressing an ADAM needs to reach past 64K.

Why those two together

  • The ADAM has few slots. A memory expander over 64K already needs an addressor, and a boot ROM needs a socket somewhere - putting both on one card leaves a slot free.
  • Lundy's EXPAnDDR board does the same job in production form, adding a parallel port as well.

What each half does

  • The addressor lets the machine see a large memory card as more than a 64K expander; CP/M and T-DOS then use the surplus as a RAM disk.
  • A boot ROM runs code the moment the machine starts - diagnostics, or SmartBASIC - without waiting for a tape or a disk.

AS A PROTOTYPE, how it differs from the shipped board wants documenting from the item.
