Why a PROM

  • EOS knows about data drives and disk drives on ADAMnet. An IDE disk on an expansion card is not something it was built to look for.
  • Code in a PROM runs the moment the machine starts, before anything has been loaded - which is the only place a machine can be taught to boot from something new.

Where it goes

  • A boot PROM socket, which several ADAM expansion cards provide - MicroFox's own parallel interface card and Eric Pearson's MIB238 among them.
