An external power supply for the Coleco ADAM, built by Rey Lopez.

What it is for

  • The ADAM's own supply lives inside its daisy wheel printer, so a machine without a working printer will not start at all.
  • An external supply bypasses the printer entirely - which is what makes a printerless ADAM usable, and takes the load off a surviving printer.

What it delivers

  • +12V on two pins, +5V, -5V and ground. The negative rail is why an ordinary adapter will not serve and a multi-output supply is needed.
