Notes

An external ADAM power supply from Walters Software, built around a Mean Well RT-50A.

Why a software house

  • Because by then somebody had to. The ADAM's own supply lives inside its daisy wheel printer, so a machine without a working printer will not start - and printers were failing.
  • Walters Software was still publishing catalogues into the 1990s, long after most suppliers had gone, so it fell to them to sell whatever owners needed.

What it must deliver

  • +12V on two pins, +5V, -5V and ground. The negative rail is why an ordinary adapter cannot be substituted and a multi-output unit like the RT-50A is the sensible basis.
