256K Center Directory Digital Data Pack (Grey Label)

The ADAM's own storage medium: a high speed digital data pack holding 256K. It looks like an audio cassette and is not one - the shell carries a different pattern of holes, and the tape inside is thicker, because it is driven far harder than any music tape.

How it runs

• 20 inches per second reading and writing, and 80 inches per second rewinding.
• Two tracks, 128 blocks of 1K on each, which is where the 256K comes from.
• Formatted HE, a pack carries an EOS directory and the ADAM treats it much as it treats a disk. The other format, GW, holds the same 256K without one.
