A conversion that doubles the capacity of an ADAM's 5.25-inch disk drive, from 160K to 320K, by using both sides of the disk.

Why 160K

  • Coleco fitted a single-sided mechanism to save money; the format followed from that choice rather than from any technical limit.
  • Coleco prototyped a double-sided 360K drive of its own and never shipped it - that prototype is catalogued here.

So the conversion finishes a job Coleco started. It needs the drive's firmware changed as well as its mechanism, which is why E&T's EPROM updates are catalogued alongside it.
