Notes

A data pack holding 128K a side, used by turning it over - the tape equivalent of a flippy floppy disk, and a way of getting two independent volumes out of one shell.

How it differs

  • Coleco's own packs hold 256K across two tracks, read without ever being turned over.
  • A flippy is loaded, used, then flipped for the second 128K - each side its own directory and its own set of files.

The centre directory format is the ordinary one, which most ADAM software expects; the right directory layout was mostly used for SuperGames.

WHY A FLIPPY WAS OFFERED AT ALL - shorter tape, cheaper stock, or the wish for two separate volumes - is not recorded, and would be worth establishing from the packaging.
