Notes

E&T's combined parallel interface and memory addressor, in the version whose dip switches select which of the ADAM's output ports the card answers to - eight settings, so more than one card can be fitted without the two arguing over the same address.

Why that matters

  • Software addresses a printer by port. If two cards claim the same one, neither works predictably.
  • Switchable addressing is how a machine ends up driving a printer and a second parallel device at once.

The card also carries the memory addressing function, so it does the work of two boards in one slot - which on a machine with as few slots as the ADAM is the point.

The plainer version without the switches is catalogued separately.
