Notes

A 256K memory module for E&T's MegaRAM expander, in SIPP form - a small board of RAM chips with a row of pins along one edge, the memory packaging of the late 1980s before SIMM sockets took over.

Why SIPPs

  • They were the standard memory of the PC world at the time, so they were cheap and available - which is exactly what a third party supporting an abandoned machine needs.
  • Fitting memory as modules rather than as loose chips means a card can be part-populated and filled in later.

As with any ADAM expander over 64K, the addressor card is what makes the memory reachable, and CP/M or T-DOS is what actually uses it - as a RAM disk.
