256K Center Directory Digital Data Pack (Single Carded Pack)

A blank 256K data pack for the ADAM, sold singly on a card rather than in a multi-pack - a third party supplying the machine's own medium.

The medium

• A modified compact cassette: a different pattern of holes in the shell and thicker tape, because the drive runs it at 20 inches per second and rewinds it at 80.
• 256K over two tracks, in 1K blocks, 128 blocks to a track.
• Centre directory format, which is the ordinary one most ADAM software expects; right-directory packs were mostly Coleco's SuperGames.

Blank media from third parties is what kept a machine usable once its maker had gone, and carded single packs are the supermarket end of that trade. LITTLE IS RECORDED about Loran Manufacturing; the packaging is the source.
