1 Mb Memory Expander

A one-megabyte memory card for the ADAM from Micro Innovations - one of the most widely used expanders the machine has.

How it is reached

• It needs an addressor card, since the ADAM's bus was laid out for a 64K expander and anything larger needs the extra addressing. Micro Innovations made addressor cards too.
• Without one, a large card behaves as an ordinary 64K expander and the rest is unreachable.

What can use it

• Ordinary ADAM software sees the base 64K plus 64K however much is fitted - a limit of the software, not the card.
• CP/M and T-DOS see all of it and use the surplus as a RAM disk, which is by a wide margin the fastest storage the machine has.

Micro Innovations cards in 256K, 512K and one-megabyte sizes turn up throughout the community's ADAM builds, which says something about how well they worked.
