A double-sided 360K floppy drive for the ADAM, sold under Micro Innovations' PowerMATE name.

What it doubles

  • Coleco's own 5.25-inch drive is single-sided and holds 160K, a capacity that followed from a decision to save money rather than from any limit of the format.
  • 360K double-sided double-density is the standard PC format of the period, so the disks themselves were cheap and everywhere.

Coleco prototyped a 360K drive of its own and never shipped it - that prototype is catalogued here. Between Eve's conversion kits, E&T's EPROMs, Micro Innovations' drives and Coleco's own abandoned prototype, this catalogue holds four separate attempts at the same idea.
