Notes

A 256K memory card for the ADAM from Orphanware - four times what Coleco's own expander offered.

What it needs

  • The addressor card catalogued alongside it. Without one, a 256K card behaves as a 64K expander and the rest is unreachable - which is a well-known trap with these cards.

What can use it

  • Ordinary ADAM software sees the base 64K plus 64K however much is installed.
  • CP/M and T-DOS see the whole card and use the surplus as a RAM disk - which on a machine whose alternative is a 256K tape at 20 inches per second is transformative rather than merely convenient.

Orphanware, Micro Innovations, MicroFox and E&T all sold cards at this size; several are catalogued here, which makes the collection a decent record of the ADAM's after-market.
