Notes

Orphanware's 80-column display card for the ADAM, in the version without the serial port.

Why 80 columns matter

  • The ADAM shows 31 characters a line. CP/M software of the period was written for 80, so without a card like this the machine's CP/M side is barely usable.
  • 80 columns also suits the word processing the ADAM was sold for, which is why the keyboard was laid out for it in the first place.

Why buy this one

  • If the machine already has a serial port - from a MIB3, an Eve card or anything similar - paying for a second is waste, and slots are scarce.

Eve's MON-80 terminal and CharlesMouse's modern Dual Serial / 80 Column board answer the same want and are catalogued here; three attempts across forty years at the ADAM's most persistent shortcoming.
