An EPROM that makes all four of the ADAM's disk drive slots usable.

What it unlocks

  • The ADAM's own firmware has encoded provision for drives 3 and 4 that the stock software does not reach. Getting at them is a matter of firmware rather than hardware.
  • With this fitted, a machine can address four drives at once - which matters as soon as an owner has a tape drive, a floppy, a drive emulator and a hard disk all attached.

This is a recurring theme in the ADAM's after-market: the machine could frequently do more than its firmware would admit, and a replacement EPROM was the way in. The community has since gone further, combining boot configurations for ADAMnet, SASI/SCSI, MFM and IDE hardware into single selectable ROMs.
