Notes

A mouse for the Coleco ADAM, in the version that needs nothing done to the machine.

It plugs into a controller port and converts the mouse's movement into joystick directions - up, down, left and right - so software sees a joystick being pushed rather than a pointer being moved.
That is why it works at all on a machine with no notion of a mouse: nothing had to be written for it.
It needs external power, which the controller port does not supply.

Direction without distance. A joystick reports which way, not how far, so the fine control a real mouse gives is not there.

The internal version, catalogued alongside this, takes its power from inside the machine instead - which is tidier and means modifying the console.
