Data packs formatted to hold 320K rather than Coleco's 256K - more onto the ADAM's own medium than Coleco ever put there.

How that is possible

  • A standard pack holds 128 one-kilobyte blocks on each of two tracks. An extended format changes that layout to fit more in.
  • It follows that a pack like this needs software that understands the format - which is presumably what Trisyd's own MegaCopy hardware, catalogued here, was for.

What it costs

  • A denser layout wants a drive in good alignment. On a machine whose drives were among its two great faults, that is not a small condition.
