SydModem 1200 Baud Internal Modem

A 1200 baud internal modem for the Coleco ADAM.

What 1200 baud meant

• Coleco's own ADAMlink modem ran at 300 baud. 1200 is four times that - the difference between reading text as it arrives and waiting for it.
• By the late 1980s 1200 was the ordinary speed for bulletin boards, so this is a modem that kept an ADAM current with what everyone else was using.

Why internal

• It fits a slot rather than sitting on the desk needing its own power and cable - and Coleco's own ADAMlink was an internal card too, in expansion slot 1.
