Why it exists

• Import restrictions across South America in this period made bringing in finished consumer electronics difficult or impossible.
• The answer was local assembly and local cases: Brazil produced the Onyx and the SpliceVision, both catalogued here, and Uruguay produced this.
• A locally cased machine is usually cheaper to make and easier to import as parts than as a product.
