Why so many

  • Hy-Type I was Diablo's daisy wheel standard, introduced in 1970 and used across the industry - not a Coleco part.
  • So ribbons for the ADAM's printer were made by many companies and sold everywhere, which is the reason the printer can still be fed today when almost nothing else about the machine is straightforward.

Why it matters

  • The ADAM's printer holds the system's power supply, so it is connected whenever the computer is used. A printer that cannot print is still doing its main job, but a working ribbon is what makes it a printer again.
