Activision Patch: Beamrider

The Beamrider patch - one of the harder ones to come by, and worth more than most as a result.

How it was earned

• Photograph the television showing a qualifying score, post the picture to Activision, and receive a patch and club membership by return.

Why it is scarce

• Fewer players reached the score, so fewer patches were sent. Scarcity in this programme is a direct record of how hard a game was - which is an unusual thing for a piece of memorabilia to encode.

Beamrider was published for the ColecoVision as well as the Atari 2600. A second Beamrider patch is catalogued alongside this one, so the two want comparing - variants exist across the range.
