Activision Patch: Keystone Kapers

The patch for Keystone Kapers, awarded to players who photographed a qualifying score and posted it to Activision.

What the programme was

• The first video game achievement system, run by post. Reach the score, photograph the screen, send the picture, receive an embroidered patch and membership of the game's club.
• Each game had its own club and its own design, so a run of patches is a record of what one person actually played and finished.

Keystone Kapers - a Keystone Kops chase through a department store - was published for the ColecoVision as well as the Atari 2600.

Patches are cloth, and cloth that has been sewn onto something and worn does not survive well. Unused examples are the scarce ones.
