ColecoVision Power Supply (U.S. version)

The ColecoVision's external power supply, and one of the parts most likely to have failed by now. It is not a single-voltage brick: the console needs three rails, and the supply delivers them all down one four-pin lead.

What it delivers

• Pin 1: +5V DC at 0.9A.
• Pin 2: -5V DC at 0.1A.
• Pin 3: +12V DC at 3A.
• Pin 4: ground.

The console draws about 36W in total. The negative rail is the awkward one - it is why an ordinary modern adapter cannot simply be substituted, and why the replacement supplies sold today are purpose-built rather than generic.
