A drawing tablet for the ColecoVision - the only one the console had.

How it worked

  • A flat tablet with a stylus, plugged into a controller port, with software supplied to draw with.
  • Templates came with it, so a user could trace as well as draw freehand - which was how most home graphics tablets of the period were sold.

Why it is unusual

  • The ColecoVision was a games console, and a drawing tablet is a computer peripheral. It belongs to the brief moment when consoles were being sold as more than that - the same impulse that produced the ADAM.
