Why this pad

  • The Famicom Network controller was made for Nintendo's Japanese online service and carries a full numeric keypad - the same reason its Super Famicom cousin, the NTT Data pad, suits the ColecoVision.
  • The console takes skill levels and options from a twelve-key pad, so a controller that already has one needs no compromise.

Grips03's mini PCBs handle the wiring between a modern pad's button matrix and what the ColecoVision expects to read. The work was shared on the AtariAge forums, where these pairings were discussed and built in small runs.
