Component & Composite A/V Mod

A ColecoVision modified for both composite and component video, by doubledown - who supplied video-modded consoles to order under the name Viking Video Games.

What it adds

• Composite carries the whole picture on one wire, which softens it and blurs colour into brightness.
• Component splits the signal across three, keeping colour and brightness apart. On a display that takes it, the difference on a machine this old is plainly visible.

A component mod is the less common of the two and was discussed on the AtariAge hardware forum well before kits existed. The console still leaves the factory with RF only, so both outputs are additions.
