A ColecoVision converted to run from a modern power supply, with an indicator lamp as an option.
Why it matters
- A failed supply is the commonest reason a ColecoVision does not switch on, and the original is not a standard part: +5V, -5V and +12V on one four-pin lead, around 36W in total.
- The negative rail is what rules out substituting an ordinary adapter, and it is why every answer in this catalogue - the ColUSB plug, internal supplies, conversions like this - has to generate three rails from one input.
Why a light
- A stock ColecoVision gives no indication that it is powered. On a console with no power switch of its own, that is a genuine omission.
