Activision Patch: Pitfall

An embroidered patch awarded by Activision to players who reached a qualifying score - the first video game achievement, twenty years before consoles kept score for you.

How you earned one

• Photograph the television with your score showing, and post the picture to Activision.
• They wrote back with a patch and membership of a club named for the game. Pitfall's was the Pitfall Harry's Explorers Club.

The letter that came with it was written in character: "In permanent recognition of your special ability to find treasure despite snapping crocodiles and deadly scorpions, I've enclosed my official emblem."

Activision published Pitfall for the ColecoVision as well as the Atari 2600.
