One of V.P.I.'s High Score controller accessories for the ColecoVision.

The problem

  • The ColecoVision's hand controller has a very short stick, worked with a fingertip rather than held in the hand. It is the single most complained-about part of the console.
  • The internal centring ring wears, which makes a stick that was already awkward loose as well.

What they do

  • Fit over or onto the existing stick to lengthen it, widen the grip, or both - turning a fingertip control into something closer to an arcade stick.

The range in this catalogue runs to the High Score 15 and 20, gripper balls, extension sticks and a controller base. WHAT DISTINGUISHES 15 FROM 20 is not recorded and wants establishing from the packaging - the numbers may be model sizes, or lengths.

DoubleDown's ball knob and shaft extension, from 2019, does the same job nearly forty years later.
