A ColecoVision hand controller fitted with a ball top - one of Yurkie's modifications, and among the most-seen improvements to the console's worst part.

Why it is needed

  • The stock controller's stick is a stub, worked with a fingertip, and the plastic centring ring inside it wears until the stick is loose as well as short.
  • A ball top gives something to hold, which turns a fingertip control into a hand grip.

Who Yurkie is

  • A modifier working through the AtariAge forums who has serviced roughly 320 consoles and 750 controllers, with the stated aim of keeping as many as possible out of landfill.
