A replacement BIOS chip that removes the ColecoVision's title-screen wait.
What it fixes
- A stock console holds every retail game on its title screen for twelve seconds, and nothing skips it.
- The replacement either removes the timer or shortens it, so a press of the firebutton goes straight to the skill-select screen.
Before fitting
- The earliest no-delay versions turned out to be incompatible with some software, so a low-delay version was made that is broadly compatible; modern chips keep a short title screen rather than none.
- Fitting a socket rather than soldering the chip down means the original can go back - Yurkie's socketed PCB modification, catalogued here, is exactly that.
It is one of the two or three modifications almost every restored ColecoVision receives, alongside composite A/V.
