A console that plays both ColecoVision and Sega SG-1000 cartridges - a rebadged Bit Corporation DINA 2-in-1, sold in the United States by Telegames in 1988.
Why it works
- The ColecoVision and the SG-1000 were built on the same foundations: a Z80 processor and a TMS9918 family video chip. What differs is the sound hardware and how cartridges are addressed.
- Two slots and the right switching is all it takes, which is why this exists and why the modern Chameleon cartridge in this catalogue does the same job from the other direction.
What it gets wrong
- No ColecoVision expansion module fits it - no Atari adapter, no ADAM, no Super Game Module.
- It will not run every ColecoVision cartridge, partly because it has only one numeric keypad where the console has two.
- Many units overheat if left plugged in for long periods.
Slim - 12 by 5 by 1 inches - with NES-style pads, Meteoric Shower built in, sold by mail order for $40.
