ColecoVision with Donkey Kong (Factory Serviced)

The ColecoVision as it was sold at launch in 1982, with Donkey Kong in the box - the first home version of Nintendo's arcade game, and the reason the console sold as well as it did in its first year.

Why the pack-in mattered

• Donkey Kong was among the biggest arcade games in the world, and Coleco had it at home first.
• The conversion was noticeably closer to the arcade than the Atari 2600's, which was exactly the argument Coleco was making for the hardware.

The console launched in New York and Boston in late July 1982 and reached the rest of North America by October, with a catalogue of twelve games behind it.
