Notes

An external ADAM power supply in a case designed to sit against the machine rather than behind it - the side-car arrangement the name describes.

Why it is needed

  • The ADAM's power supply is inside its daisy wheel printer, so a machine without a working printer will not start.
  • An external supply bypasses the printer and spares it the load.
  • It has to provide +12V on two pins, +5V, -5V and ground; the negative rail is why a single-voltage adapter will not do.
