Why variants exist

• Activision's patches were produced over several years by more than one supplier. Colour, border, backing and stitching all vary between printings, and collectors distinguish them on exactly those grounds.

How it was earned

• Photograph the television with a qualifying score showing and post the picture to Activision, who sent back the patch and club membership.

Beamrider's is among the harder patches to find, which makes a second example unusual in itself.
