The MicroFox Virtual ADAM Disk Drive (VDD), released in 2016 and distributed exclusively by A.N.N., is a native ADAMnet storage device that emulates up to 100 floppy disk images stored on a removable microSD card. Unlike the IDE card solution, the VDD connects directly to the ADAM's ADAMnet side port or daisy-chains with existing drives — no expansion slot, boot cart, or driver software required. EOS sees it as a standard disk drive (Drive 1 or Drive 2, selectable). Disk images are stored in ADAMemulator (.dsk) format, making the internet a ready source of software. Images can be added or removed from the microSD card using any PC with a card reader.

The VDD ships complete with the drive unit, microSD card pre-loaded with ADAM software, external power supply, and ADAMnet cable. It has been tested with 2GB SDHC cards with theoretical support for up to 32GB SDHC (FAT32). The production unit supports disk image sizes from 160K to 1.44MB.

The pre-production prototype of the MicroFox Virtual ADAM Disk Drive, dated © 2014 on the PCB silkscreen — two years before the 2016 commercial release. Signed and attributed by designers Bob and Doug Slopsema of MicroFox Technologies on the acrylic enclosure. This is a three-board sandwich assembly in a clear acrylic prototype case, revealing the full development architecture before it was consolidated into the production unit.

The prototype is built around an Arduino Mega 2560 (ATmega2560 @ 16MHz) as the ADAMnet protocol engine, paired with a custom MicroFox-designed green PCB that provides the ADAMnet bus interface, a 2×16 HD44780 character LCD (blue backlight), a microSD card slot, three navigation buttons (PREV / SELECT / NEXT) for disk image selection, and dedicated ADAMNET IN / ADAMNET OUT RJ connectors for daisy-chaining. A third sub-board handles DC power regulation. Hand-wired purple jumpers interconnect the custom board to the Arduino, characteristic of first-article prototype development. A bodge wire on the PCB indicates at least one routing correction was made post-fabrication.

The ATmega2560's hardware UART handles the ADAMnet slave protocol at 62,500 baud via an open-collector buffer stage on the custom board. SPI on the same processor drives the microSD card. This architecture — AVR microcontroller implementing full ADAMnet timing in firmware — was validated in this prototype and carried forward to the production design, and later influenced subsequent ADAMnet emulator projects in the ADAM community.

The Internal ADE Pro is a combination of features from the standard ADE, original ADE Pro, and ADE Lite all rolled into one unit. The board set is designed to install into a factory ADAM dummy drive.

The ADE Pro Plus is a combination of features from the ADE, ADE Pro, and ADE Lite all rolled into one enclosed unit. Front buttons include: DRIVE SELECT, UP, DOWN, UN/MOUNT, SWAP, and RESET.

The ADEL is designed for the ADAM user who doesn't require the full features of the ADE or ADE Pro with LCD and button interface. It is a great option for gaming and just about anything else with few limitations.

This is a hardware variant based off the official ADAM FujiNet design. It has been modified to mount internally into an ADAM Dummy Data Drive assembly and uses a full-sized SD card slot.
